Our story

Fewer pieces, made to be worn for years.Cut in Copenhagen, sewn in Porto, repaired for life.

We opened in 2016 with 12 styles and one promise: each would still be in the collection, and still repairable, 10 years on. All 12 are still here. So is the atelier that sewed the first run.

A note from the founders

We started this because we were tired of buying clothes we would not miss. Not bad clothes, exactly. Just clothes with nothing in them worth keeping.

So we made ourselves a rule: a piece joins the collection only if we would still want to wear it in 10 years, and only if we can mend it when it wears. That rule has cost us a lot of ideas. It has also given us a wardrobe we are proud of.

If something you bought from us needs mending, bring it back. It is still ours to look after.

Milestones

How we got here

  1. The first 12

12 styles, cut in a Copenhagen basement and sewn by one atelier in Porto.

  2. Repairs for life

We start mending anything we have ever sold, at no charge. We have not stopped.

  3. Bredgade opens

A former bookbinder's becomes the first store, with a repairs counter at the back.

  4. Porto follows

A second door, 3 streets from the atelier that sews our shirts.

  5. Still all 12

The first collection is still in the range, and still made by the atelier that sewed it.

What we hold to

The rules we do not bend

Written down before the first collection, and unchanged since. Every piece we have made has had to pass all 5.

  • Certified before it is cut

Every bolt arrives with its certificate and a mill we can name. A fabric we cannot trace does not get cut, however good it looks.

  • Made by people we know

3 family-run ateliers in northern Portugal, visited more often than our own head office. We pay on delivery, not 90 days later.

  • Less water, less waste

Undyed where we can, low-impact dyes where we cannot. Offcuts go back to the mill as fiber, not to landfill.

  • Repaired, not replaced

Anything we have ever sold, we mend for free. Seams, buttons, moth holes. Hand it in at a store or post it to Porto.

  • A share goes further

1% of every order funds primary schooling in the villages our cotton is grown in. It is printed on the receipt.

Materials

Fabric first

We choose the cloth before we draw the garment. These are the 4 we keep coming back to, and the mills that make them.
